Kokoda Mud Sweat and Tears - Channel 7's Witness Program

Charlie Lynn leads a group of teenagers across the Kokoda Trail. Two film crews from Channel 7's Witness program are also on the expedition. Can a 12-day adventure really change a teenager who has had so many black marks against them? 'Most of the teens on this trek were referred to Youth Insearch through their local schools, police or community centres. Nearly all have a history of sexual abuse, drug or alcohol addiction, attempted suicide or criminal offences. Hiking the Kokoda Trail is an attempt to give the group a stronger sense of self-discipline and a better chance to overcome their financial and emotional limitations. But the organisers of the trek see it as something more. It's a history lesson, a tool to help young Australians understand what their countrymen went through more than 50 years ago'.
