Personal PNG Carriers

Personal porters (grandsons of the famous 'fuzzy-wuzzy angels') are available to carry your backpack for you. This is a recommended option if you are not an experienced backpacker. The cost for a personal PNG carriers for the duration of the trek is $530.

PNG TREK WARNING - PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE

Trekkers contemplating a trek over the Kokoda Trail should be aware of the following responsibilities for insurance protection:

Public Liability Insurance. This is a Trek Operators responsibility and provides essential cover protecting you against any accident that might cause a permanent disability.

Personal Travel Insurance. This is your responsibility as a trekker and covers your evacuation from the track and any hospital/medical treatment for any injury or medical condition that caused the evacuation. Personal Travel Insurance does not cover any permanent disability which may result from an accident.

It is your responsibility to ensure the trek operator you choose has a proper Public Liability Insurance policy for your protection. Some operators do not pay premiums for Public Liability Insurance in order to keep their costs down. You would be taking an unacceptable risk in trekking across such a rugged and remote area without this type of insurance protection in today's environment.

Adventure Kokoda has completed a comprehensive Risk Management Assessment and has obtained a policy underwritten by Llyods of London for a maximum amount of $10 million per claim.
