Trek Features

Kokoda: It's all about history . . .

'Adventure Kokoda provided me with everything I wanted from trekking the Kokoda track - adventure, emotion (the dawn service at Isurava was amazing) and thorough campaign history . . .'

The military history of the Kokoda campaign is the key feature of our treks. We follow the original wartime trail and include all battlefields, fire support bases, casualty evacuation stations and air supply areas in our trek itinerary.

The wartime trail is obviously longer and more of a challenge than the popular 'eco-tourist track' but it is important to us because of our focus on the historical significance of the Kokoda campaign.

Our trek leaders are experienced military historians - some have had command experience in the Australian military ( Major Chad Sherrin, for example, was decorated for bravery in the Vietnam war and is a former jungle training instructor). They are highly regarded and acknowledged as the most professional leaders on the track.

We allow 10 days to cover the 155 km wartime trail and trek to all battlefields and logistic areas associated with the Kokoda campaign.

We also conduct an 8 day trek which follows the advance to contact by the 39th Battalion via Imita Ridge and the battlefields at Brigade Hill, Templetons Crossing, Isurava, Deniki and Kokoda. We follow the 105 km wartime route taken by the 39th.
