Special Guests: Veterans of the Kokoda Campaign
Network Kokoda has been established as a charitable organisation with the primary purpose of providing education, health and leadership benefits for the people of PNG, with the initial focus on the communities along the Kokoda Trail. Network Kokoda also seeks to honour the legacy of the Australians and Papua New Guineans (soldiers, sailors, airmen, coastwatchers and carriers) who served in the War in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945, through the preservation and promotion of our joint military heritage.
In addition to making awards and grants, Network Kokoda will provide close support to organisations and community groups in pursuit of its objectives. It will work in partnership with Australian and PNG government and non-government organisations.
Our objective is to establish representative groups in PNG and in each State and regional areas throughout Australia to keep the spirit alive and honour the legacy of our Australian and PNG veterans.
The Chairman of Network Kokoda is Brigadier Phil McNamara, former head of Australia's Special Forces and more recently the Chief of the NSW State /Emergency Services. Members of the inaugural Board include Colonel David Knaggs, Commodore Simon Hart, Major Charlie Lynn, Dr David Dunn, Gabrielle Chan, Sandra Welkerling, Jack Burston and Daniel Dwyer.
